Who Won the Travelers Golf Tournament?

The Course Layout

The Travelers Championship took place at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CT from June 17 to June 20th. It is known for its fast greens, lush fairways, and challenging layout. Players had to navigate some of the most difficult holes on tour such as the par-3 13th hole that features a lake off the tee box or the par-4 17th which is one of longest holes on tour at 472 yards. These challenges would prove to be paramount when deciding who won this event.

Leading up to Sunday

Heading into Sunday’s final round there were a few names that stood out among the field of contenders. Former World No. 1 Jordan Spieth sat atop of leaderboard but was closely followed by fellow American Harris English who was one shot back in 2nd place after shooting a stunning 63 on Saturday afternoon. In addition, English had won his first PGA Tour event earlier this year at the Sentry Tournament of Champions so he certainly had confidence going into Sunday’s final round which could have been enough to help him get over the line if he got hot with his putter again like he did on Saturday afternoon.

The Final Round

As expected, Spieth opened up hot birdying five of his first eight holes before eventually cooling off with four bogeys in his last ten holes leaving him unable to gain any more ground on leaderboard by day’s end finishing T-2nd at -12 overall for tournament behind eventual winner Brendan Steele who finished at -14 after shooting an incredible 64 (-7) on Sunday afternoon which included an eagle on 16th hole putting him two shots clear of Spieth and three shots clear of 3rd place finisher Chez Reavie who shot -11 overall for tournament following final round 65 (-6).

Conclusion

All in all, it was a thrilling weekend at TPC River Highlands as we saw many stars make their presence felt throughout week including former World No 1 Jordan Spieth who came just short after stellar play all weekend long ultimately falling two shots short of winner Brendan Steele who shot an incredible seven under par 64 on Sunday afternoon sealing victory with eagle on 16th hole giving himself two stroke lead heading into 18th tee box where he would go onto win by two strokes over Spieth ending week fourteen under par overall giving himself second career win on PGA Tour capping off memorable weekend that will surely be remembered as one of best tournaments we’ve seen thus far in 2021 season!
